Infertility

Over the years, the accepted infertility rate for all couples has been quoted to be around 10-15%. Recently, however, fertility problems have increased. At present the infertility rate in many studies is 20 – 25%. This means that as many as 1 in 4 couples planning a baby may have trouble conceiving; more and more couples are turning to fertility treatments to help them have a family.

Many times the work-up and the treatment is very easy, and only a minor problem may exist. In a few short visits the problem is solved, and you are returning to the office with a positive pregnancy test to start as a new OB patient.

In other cases, the problem may be more complicated and require further testing to discover the cause of the infertility problem. If there is an infertility problem, we consider the “couple” as the patient, not just the female. We, therefore, do a complete “couple” workup.”

If the workup indicates that the problem lies with the female, we have the ability to do the full female infertility work up. After the work up is completed if it is found that there is a male problem, we have the ability to send the male to one of the Board Certified Urologists doing male infertility to work with us to solve that problem. If, on the other hand, the problem lies with the female, we have the ability to use the Fertility/Ovulatory drugs that facilitate ovulation, and the surgical expertise to offer appropriate surgery, if needed. Lastly, if there is a need for Artificial Insemination using either donor Seminal fluid (AID), or seminal fluid from the partner (AIH), we have the ability to facilitate this and go forward with the appropriate procedure.

Our office offers full Infertility services by Board Certified Obstetricians-Gynecologists, so there is no need to look to places like San Francisco or Los Angeles to diagnose, solve, and treat your Infertility Problems.
