As you have heard many times over the radio, television, answering machines, and physicians' offices, if you feel you have an emergency, please call 911 or go directly to the emergency room at one of the hospitals. They generally know where we are, and have the ability to get a hold of us right away.

We want you to be informed about your health care at all times, and we encourage you to ask any questions you may have. There is a time and place for the asking of questions, and that time and place is when you are in the office for your office visit. There are also times, however when you feel you have a question that needs to be answered right away. If you have an Urgent problem, then, those are the times that you should call. When/if you have one of those times, please do not hesitate to call.

We do ask that for "routine" calls, you try to call during office hours (see below). However, remember, the person who decides it is an emergency is you. If you feel you have an emergency, do not hesitate to call at anytime.

There are few things, however, that can help both you and us in serving your medical needs when considering the phone call to us. We have listed them below for your convenience. Many of these have to do with when we are not on call and you would have to deal with the on-call physician. She/He is "on-call" for emergency situations only during the times that the office is closed; therefore, here are a few bits of information and rules to consider before calling. First and foremost, none of the following should be considered an emergency.

Click on the or the heading to see more information.

"BLOCKED" telephones

When calling our office, please make sure that you take ANY "BLOCKS" on your telephones "OFF." We will be unable to call you back if your telephone is "BLOCKED."

If you do need to call during times when the office is closed and the exchange is answering for us, and you have not received a call back within 2 hours, please call the exchange at: (559) 228-3670

OFFICE HOURS are 8:30 AM - 12:00 noon and 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM.

Please try to call with questions during these times. This is also a better time for you as well, as you will probably be talking to your own physician.

If you call during times that the office is closed, you run a good chance of talking to the on-call physician. He/She may not be your physician and will not be as knowledgeable about you as your regular physician.

REFILLS

WILL ONLY BE DONE DURING OFFICE HOURS; you should easily be able to figure out when you are going to run out of medication. Try to plan ahead, so you order the refill before you run out of medication on a weekend or a Holiday time. It is not reasonable to expect the on call physician to be doing refills while being responsible for and tending to all of the emergencies during his/her time on-call.

  • Please make sure you have enough pain medications to last you over a weekend or holiday time, as they will not be filled by the on-call physician
  • Refills for pain medicines: NO refills for pain medications (including NSAIDS or NARCOTICS) will be carried out during non-office hours. All of the on-call physicians have agreed to the above policy, and have the same policy in place in their offices, so please do not expect any of us to change. Plan ahead!

TEST RESULTS

Laboratory, Ultrasound, and Radiology test results will only be given during office hours, as those results are in your chart. Most of the time we are not in the office when the office is closed, so we would not have access to the chart to give you the results.
